The X-tractor Gene is designed for routine isolation and purification of nucleic acids from a broad range of sample types, including solid tissue, liquid samples, plants, bacteria, fungi etc. It uses silica membrane bind/elute protocols with vacuum processing and an 8-channel pipetting head for fast, low cost and convenient processing. Once samples are introduced to the system, standard processing is continuous, which means there is no user-intervention required. Eluted product is pure, high molecular weight, and suitable for the most demanding downstream applications.
The X-tractor Gene is a versatile open platform. It can extract DNA from as few as eight or as many as 96 samples and use a wide range of protocols. Corbett Robotics have collaborated with Sigma-Aldrich to produce very low-cost DNA extraction reagents and consolidated protocols that work without modification for most solid and liquid samples, including whole tissue, urine, plants, bacteria etc.
