Midi Vari-gel Horizontal Unit

 These brand new units have been designed to accommodate up to 4 gel tray sizes so that different gel sizes can be interchanged in one tank, fully meeting the requirements of today’s scientists. The units combine superb resolution with ease of use. Designed by scientists for scientists, the new Vari-gel units are the instruments of choice for modern horizontal gel electrophoresis.
 
Design features

Gel trays

  • E60190: includes 2 trays, 7 cm wide and lengths of 7, 10 cm.

  • E60290: includes 3 trays, 10 cm wide and lengths of 7, 10, 15 cm.

  • E60390: includes 4 trays, 15 cm wide and lengths of 7, 10, 15, 20 cm.

Multiple comb slots
  Regularly positioned along the gel tray and corresponding to each comb thickness they allow the user to adjust the sample migration distance ac-cording to their own personal preference.
 
UV transparent gel trays
  Allows the gel to be viewed directly on a UV Transilluminator once stained. Asymmetric electrode offset This prevents accidental polarity reversal ensuring no possibility of sample loss into the buffer.
 
Aluminium casting gates
  These ensure easy casting of the gel inside or outside of the tank. They slide into preformed grooves at the end of the gel tray providing a secure seal against gel leakage.
 
Buffer recirculation ports
  These may be connected to a peristaltic pump for buffer recirculation during electrophoresis to maintain buffer pH and pre-vent ionic gradient formation.
 
Colour coded combs
  Ensures easy identifcation of the correct comb width:
 White: 1.00 mm thick.
 Red: 1.50 mm thick.
 Blue: 2.00 mm thick.
